Moffett Field 3/6/22

Me, G-Money and Slazzy at Moffett on a Sunday.  As Slazzy said: "When it's breezy, take it easy. Well, take it easy all the time." And that was the key.

On the second hole I landed a 9-iron on the green into the wind, and proceeded to bogey on two putts.

On the eighth I lost my first ball into another hole's sand trap. The next foursome was hitting to the green and I didn't want to get in their way. So I took a penalty stroke and teed off again. I hit a nice drive and then landed a 6-iron on the green, and with two putts (and the penalty stroke) managed a bogey (but a net par for me).

My favorite hole of the day was sixteen:

I drove it right along the tree line which put me nearest the hole (in the red box).

Then I put it on the green with a 7-iron, and unfortunately three-putted for a bogey.
Putting wasn't great, but the greens had just been sanded and the ball was all over the place.

I felt good about my fairway hitting, putting balls on the green from 81 yards (9-iron), 134 yards (5-iron), 160 yards (4-iron), 148 yards (6-iron), 83 yards (56 degree wedge), 111 yards (9 iron), 40 yards (60 degree wedge), and 127 yards (7-iron). Considering my last round consisted of mostly skulled approach shots (a couple of times I hit from one side of the green to the other and back again), I was feeling much better about this round. As Slazzy says, "Take it easy." And it was breezy, so that worked.

We played until dark, unable to find our balls on the 18th green.

Proceeded to get hazy and enjoy some smash burgers from Slazzy, so a good day overall.
